Water Access Rwanda is looking for ten (11) hardworking and committed young technicians to join its apprenticeship program with goal of being trained and hired for full time postings across its different technical production teams.

Good potential candidates will be passionate about developing their skillset and delivering quality outputs, and should envision a future where they are specialists in their chosen fields. They will easily fit into a very busy environment, and display values of courage, expediency, and integrity. They should be committed to productively using their time and avoid any situation that brings about laziness, or wastes time unnecessarily.

Our work is very hands-on both in the office, workshops or field operations. While the apprenticeship is also great for those only seeking trainings, the company is specifically launching these positions to train and select future employees. Thus those who complete the apprenticeship will most likely be offered full time employment, while candidates who don’t show a hunger or ability to learn may see their apprenticeship time come to a premature end.


Responsibilities:


1. Observing, learning, and understanding a wide range of services offered by the company while under the instruction of skilled technical staff including but not limited to:
• Land Surveying
• Geophysical Surveying
• Borehole Drilling
• Plumbing
• Water filtration and storage
• Civil Works – Foundations and manholes
• Metal structures welding and assembly
• Electrical works – Solar and hybrid systems
• Field Data Surveying
• Quality Inspection
• Safety Compliance

2. To be able to demonstrate gained skills and procedural masterly as the training period progresses by working independently or with a team, to undertake tasks as instructed and increasing overall contribution to the department.
3. Learning and understanding the importance of Health and safety within the worksite.
4. Document projects both for design purpose, archiving, or in producing quality reports for the company.
5. To learn how to maintain workshop equipment in good working order, conducting repairs as needed.
6. To maintain a logbook over the duration of the apprenticeship period, recording projects that have been undertaken and the skills learned.
7. To maintain and to ensure general good housekeeping of the workplace and inventory in stock.
8. To maintain a smart appearance and to act in a professional manner at all times whether on or off the workplace.
9. To perform any other duties assigned.


Requirements

Diploma or technical degree in the following fields :
· Plumbing
· Electrical
· Water and Sanitation
· Surveying
· Civil Works
· Other related technical fields.
Able to commit six days a week to mainly field-based operations
Enthusiasm for hands-on work and desire to build a career in the technical fields
Deep passion for seeing development in rural areas and self-perception as being an actor to make it happen.
Desire to learn and openness to be coached.
Ability to handle and work within a fast moving environment

Benefits

A Monthly Compensation of RWF 125,000 will be provided to all apprentices to assist with transport, food and temporary accommodation.
Access to sites for work will be provided.
There is no other compensation or benefits beyond this and successful candidates will sign a waiver to this regard.
